Description
Low alloyed Cr cold working tool steel.
Applications
For balls, rollers, links with diameter up to 10-17 mm.
Physical properties (avarage values) at ambient temperature
Modulus of elasticity [103 x N/mm2]: 210
Density [g/cm3]: 7.80
Soft Annealing
Heat to 730-760oC, cool slowly. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 207.
Normalizing
Temperature: 860-890oC.
Stress Relieving
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to 600-650oC, holding for one hour at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 790-820, 820-850oC followed by water or oil quenching or warm bath approx. 400oC. Hardness after quenching is 65 HRC.
Tempering
Tempering temperature: 150-170oC.
Tempering Temperature (oC) vs. Hardness (HRC)
