Description
Alloyed carbon steel, spring steel.
Applications
Quenched and subsequently tempered steel for extremely wear resisting components, driving components, gears.
Physical properties (avarage values) at ambient temperature
Modulus of elasticity [103 x N/mm2]: 210
Density [g/cm3]: 7.85
Soft Annealing
Heat to 680-720oC, cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 248.
Normalizing
Temperature: 850-880oC, air.
Stress Relieving
Temperature: 120-200oC.
Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 820-850oC followed by oil quenching. Hardness after quenching is 60-65 HRC.
Tempering
Tempering temperature: 480-650oC.
Forging
Hot forming temperature: 1050-850oC.
Machinability
No data.
