Description
This is chromium-molybdenum structural steel.
Applications
Component parts for steam boilers and turbines, shafts for higher temperature ranges.
Physical properties (avarage values) at ambient temperature
Modulus of elasticity [103 x N/mm2]: 190-210
Density [g/cm3]: 7.80
Normalizing
Temperature: 920-980oC.
Stress Relieving
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to 675oC, holding for one hour at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
Austenization
Temperature: 920-980oC.
Tempering
Tempering temperature: 650-750oC.
Forging
Hot forming temperature: 1050-850oC.
Machinability
No data.
Forms manufactured: Please see the Dimensional Sales Program.
