Applications
Cold working steel. Knives for shears, machine knives for sheet metal 4-10 mm thick, punches.
Physical properties (avarage values) at ambient temperature
Modulus of elasticity [103 x N/mm2]: 210
Density [g/cm3]: 7.80
Soft Annealing
Heat to 710-750oC, cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 225.
Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 830-850oC followed by oil quenching or therma bath at 180-220oC
Tempering
Tempering temperature: 240-350oC, air.
Forging
Hot forming temperature: 1050-850oC.
